A low score is a reason to read carefully, not a verdict. It measures what our research could verify about the project, not where the price goes next.
Red flags
The warning signs our research wrote down, in its own words.
- Founding entity Terraform Labs and co-founder Do Kwon found liable for multi-billion dollar fraud
- Terraform Labs entered Chapter 11 bankruptcy and officially dissolved in early 2026
- Catastrophic collapse of original Terra ecosystem in 2022 erasing ~$40B in market capitalization
The research summary
Terra (LUNA 2.0) was launched to succeed the original Terra blockchain following the catastrophic $40 billion collapse of TerraUSD (UST) in May 2022. Founding entity Terraform Labs and founder Do Kwon were subsequently found liable for securities fraud by the SEC, leading to a $4.47 billion settlement. Terraform Labs declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy and officially ceased all operations and dissolved in January 2026. While the blockchain continues producing blocks as a community-run project, it operates without centralized corporate backing, institutional liquidity, or significant adoption.
Risks and strengths
Risks
- Terraform Labs and co-founder Do Kwon were found liable for massive fraud by the SEC, agreeing to a $4.47 billion settlement.
- Terraform Labs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2024 and officially shut down and dissolved as a legal entity in January 2026.
- The original Terra ecosystem suffered a $40 billion collapse in May 2022 due to the de-pegging of algorithmic stablecoin UST.
Strengths
- The Terra 2.0 network remains live and operational under community governance.
What the score means
The trust score is a gate. It limits what we are willing to say about a coin: below 150 we treat a project as dead and never put it in a selection, and the confidence we publish for a forecast can never be higher than the score allows.
It is not a safety rating and not a price signal. We tested it as a predictor of returns and it failed: a low-trust coin can still rally, and a high-trust one can still fall.
