What Makes a Crypto High Potential? The Four Gates We Use
Most coins outside the top 100 never get in. How our research picks the few that plausibly could, and why the multiple is a scenario, not a forecast.

Our High Potential page lists a handful of coins from outside the top 100 that our research considers plausible entrants. The list is short on purpose. This article explains how a coin gets on it, and what the number next to it does and does not mean.
The base rate comes first
Before any selection, there is a number every candidate sits under. Between the 2021 and 2025 cycle peaks, only about 3.5% of the coins in our database gained ground against Bitcoin. The median coin lost 95% of its value relative to Bitcoin over the same stretch.
That measurement is optimistic. Our database is built from the markets that exist today, so coins that were delisted before we started collecting are not in it. With the dead included, the share of winners would be lower still.
A page that picks "high potential" coins without saying this first would be selling the exception as the rule.
Four gates, in the order they disqualify
A coin reaches the list only if it passes all four:
- Trust of at least 150 out of 1000. Our grounded research scores every project from 0 to 1000. Below 150, the research has found an abandoned or dead project, and we publish nothing on it.
- Credible market data. If the research finds that the price or the reported volume itself cannot be trusted, the coin is out. The risk of a thin market is shown; a fabricated one disqualifies.
- No assessed dimension below 40. The research rates three things from 0 to 100: project safety (audits, exploit history, custody of keys), real investment in marketing and business development, and stability (team continuity, funding, delivery pace, token unlocks). A dimension the research could not assess does not disqualify; one it assessed as weak does.
- A written case for the top 100. The research must judge the chance of entering the top 100 as medium or high, and explain why in its own words.
Then asymmetry, not quality
Passing the gates is not enough. The list is ordered by the size of the possible move, weighted by the strength of the dossier, and a coin with less than a three-fold path to the top 100 is not a moonshot at all. It stays on the regular prediction pages.
This rule is a correction. Our first version ordered candidates by quality alone, and the top of the list filled with coins that were already large. Quality correlates with size, and size leaves little room to grow: some of them were 16% away from the top 100, which is not what anyone means by high potential.
The multiple is a scenario
The figure on each card is written as a multiple, like ×7, and never as a percentage. It is arithmetic, not a forecast: the market capitalisation of the coin holding rank 100, divided by the candidate's circulating supply, gives the price the candidate would need to take that seat.
The door to the top 100 does not stand still. When a bull market ends, the whole market is larger and the bar is higher, so the scenario is evaluated at the cycle peak our Bitcoin model projects, not at today's prices. It says what the price would be if the coin got in. It does not say how likely that is.
The selection today
The High Potential selection today
The multiple is a scenario: the price if the coin joined the top 100 at the projected cycle peak. It is not a forecast and not a probability.

How much of a portfolio
A moonshot is a small slice or it is a mistake. The investment plan caps it at 2% of a portfolio at a low risk level, 5% at a medium one and 10% at a high one, and it shows what you would lose if the coin went to zero before it shows the amount to put in. On the measured base rate, that loss is the usual outcome, not the rare one.
The full selection, with the research behind each coin, is on the High Potential page. If you want to place a slice inside a plan, start from the investment plan.
